Dr Carmen Jones
Carmen F. Jones, MD In 2012, Dr. Jones began seeing patients seeking recommendation to enter the State of Nevada’s medical marijuana program. In the office, she has helped as many as 100 patients monthly, over the past 8 years, learn about cannabis as medicine. Because the majority of the patients were elderly and experiencing some form of chronic pain and/or illness, upon their return, they often expressed feelings of improvement and gratitude. This subsequently led to the reduction some of their pharmaceuticals, particularly opiates. Since then, she has become a passionate Patient Advocate, helping patients manage their illnesses with medicinal cannabis. In 2018, Dr. Jones began her own consulting company called Wildflower Medical Consultants, where she is an advocate, speaker, clinician and educator for cannabis. Here patients can receive the full spectrum of care, where they, not only learn about how to use cannabis as medicine, but also receive wellness care and advice Рnutritional, supplemental and natural medicine. In addition to her medical practices, Dr. Jones is widely considered an expert on medicinal cannabis. She has served on several cannabis boards and has spoken and or moderated several panels regarding medicinal cannabis and CBD. In 2016, she was appointed by the Clark County (NV) Commissioners, to a seat on the Clark County Green Ribbon Advisory Panel to assist the State in the formulation of Adult use regulations. In 2019, she was instrumental in passing 3 laws regarding patient use of cannabis as medicine, at the Nevada State Legislature. She also lobbied US Congress in August of 2019 to pass the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act. In February 2020, she was awarded the Patient Advocate of the year by the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) Nevada chapter. Finally, she is a Core member of the Cannabis Equity and Inclusion Community of Nevada. Traditionally, Dr. Jones was trained and practiced as a pediatrician with widely varied experiences over nearly 30 years. She has practiced in the private sector; with the underserved, in both the inner city and in rural areas; and with children placed in the foster care system. She has also served as a hospitalist working with neonatal and pediatric emergencies. In addition, she has been trained in medical aesthetics and has worked as a research investigator. Originally from Chicago, IL, Dr. Jones relocated to Las Vegas in 2002. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Illinois in 1991. She completed her pediatric residency training at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago in 1994. Other community service boards include Alliance Against Diabetes, Broadway in the HOOD, and HerShe Las Vegas, Inc. She is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
